Chemical Coast power  Contributor's Pick!       
One of the more important locations on the Conrail system was the ex CNJ between Oak Island and Perth Amboy NJ, where many of the oil companies had refineries and chemical plants. Its the place that many think of when New Jersey is mentioned. Conrail generated a lot of revenue here, to the point of having two dedicated trains originate here daily at the time of this photo, CCAL to Allentown, and CCPI to Conway. Heres some of the local power that gathered all that traffic, as seen from the Jersey Turnpike.
