Ted Brumberg General Built in 1924 by Pullman in Lot #4770 to Plan #3585 as 10 section-1 drawing room-2 compartment (10S-1DR-2C) sleeper LAKE GIRARD, 1 of 30 such cars built in that Lot. 4 of these cars were sold to PRR on 12/31/1948, the LAKE GIRARD as #8663. The LAKE GIRARD was withdrawn from Pullman lease in July 1961 and transferred to MofW as #493256. It was later acquired by the Hollidaysburg & Roaring Spring RR and converted to open-air coach #729. 2/14/2015 8:17:52 PM
Ted Brumberg General Besides the LAKE GIRARD, at least 3 other cars from Lot #4770 are known to be extant: HIDDEN LAKE (built for the ORIENTAL LIMITED) was sold 12/31/48 to the Erie and converted in 1949 to business car #6, later #4, to E-L, sold to the Hoboken Shore RR, later to the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley as #4 OTSEGO LAKE, now privately owned in Midland Park, NJ. LAKE MITCHELL was sold to PRR as #8667, and was sold to the National RR Museum in Green Bay in 1962. LAKE TERRELL was retained by Pullman until sold to Ruben Darby/Darby Wood Products in June 1967. The LAKE TERRELL was later acquired by the Lake Shore RHS in North East, PA, and is now under lease to Iowa Pacific. 2/14/2015 8:26:09 PM
