| We're looking at the east end and part of the south side of the former Alton/B&O depot in New Bloomfield, MO. B&O purchased the Alton in the early 1930's (1931?) and operated the line until selling it around 1942 or so. A member of The Gideons graduated from New Bloomfield high school in the mid-30's and remembered seeing B&O trains during that time. As for this building, some new windows and lumber are clearly seen, the fresh wood in contrast to "depot gray" or whatever color was on the building already. Also note the (new?) roof or eave brackets, each one with a nice geometric pattern. |
