| Amtrak 712 at San Antonio being swiched. Train 1, the sunset, added cars from 21, the Eagle, and went on to LA. We were doing the "backwards" connection, from #1 to #22 to go to Chicago. It was a 5 hour layover in the station in the middle of the night. Aside from the hard benches, not too awful. Ive had worse times in bus stations at that time of day. Not sure where the SP unit came from. It was not on the train when we left New Orleans, and may have been added at Houston, though it may also have just been assisting with the switching moves to combine the train. |
