| Delivered to Santa Fe as F45 1930 in July 1968 without steam generating equipment but pass through lines so it could work in passenger service. Renumbered to 5930 in March 1970, then rebuilt and released as SDF45 5980 in August 1983 then was repainted into SPSF merger paint in July 1985. On April 16, 1994 this unit was retired and sold to Morrison Knudsen then leased back to Santa Fe and sucessor BNSF with 5980 being one of the last F45s in service with the lease terminated in 2000. With their careers in leasing over most if not all former Santa Fe F45s were cut up for scrap shortly afterward. |
