ATSF 4-6-0 #497 - Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe  Contributor's Pick!       
Here's an example of a ten wheeler built by the Rhode Island Locomotive Works in 1900, a year before it joined to form the American Locomotive Company (Alco). It had 67" drivers and could generate a respectable boiler pressure of 200 psi for its 20"x28" cylinders. The engine weight was 162,200 lb and a tractive effort of 28,418 lb. No date, location,or photographer identified on this photo so it is approxmiate date and location.
