KCS 2-10-4 #906 - Kansas City Southern  Contributor's Pick!
This massive locomotive was delivered by Lima Locomotive Works in August of 1937 so this photo is a shot of the new loco. It had high stepping 70" drivers and created a massive 310 psi for its powerful 27"x34" cylinders. The engine weight was a whopping 509,000 lb and it generated a tractive effort of 93,302 lb. According to SteamLocomotives.com, this brute and the 9 others like it were assigned to the Northern Division since WWII had stopped the rail upgrade south of De Queen, Arkansas, to could handle the massive weight of these locos.
