CRIP 4-8-4 #5052 - Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific  Contributor's Pick!
Here is another excellent example of an Alco built brute that worked the rails for Rock Island. Built in 1930 as a class R-67b loco, it had 69" drivers and developed an impressive 250 psi boiler pressure for its good sized 26"x32" cylinders. The engine weight was a hefty 434,000 lb and it could apply a respectable tractive effort of 66,620 lb. Unknown location, date is approximate & no photographer listed.
