Here's another example of the first Alco Schenectady built Berkshires for the Nickel Plate that eventually spawned a large group on the NKP roster. Delivered in November of 1934 as one of the class 5 Berkshires, it had 69" drivers and developed a powerful 245 psi boiler pressure. After serving for nearly 23 years, it was sold for scrap on 11/2/61 to Luntz Iron & Steel Co. This is a Theo. A. Gay photo
