BNSF Transfer Job Y-BIR104 passing through 27th Street Interlocking AKA The CSXT Gate in Birmingham, Al. on their way back to East Thomas Yard after interchanging with NS at North Yard. The 2046 is a former Penn Central/Conrail/GMTX GP38-2 & the 2048 is a former EMDX/MKT GP40 rebuilt to GP38-2 specifications. These blue & white units have been nicknamed Smurfs for their blue & white color scheme
