| Crossties as a retaining wall are right there as part of the Gauley Bridge line. This particular line was lightly utilized and as a result, this retaining wall doesn't have a lot of "support". Another photo in this album shows portions of old rail driven into the ground to provide additional support. This view looks north across US Hwy 60, the road in the foreground. |
