I saw a photo of N&W #1838 which I later learned was the ex-UP coach #5400 (ex-WAB #1431, r/n N&W #1838) in Jack Pfeifer's book "West From Omaha" on page 194. The window arrangement in the book's photo resembles your photo of N&W #1834 more than it does the former UP #5400. Was this car modified to resemble the 1950 ACF built cars N&W #1834-1837)? What was the window arrangement on the other side of the car?
