Railway Express car  Contributor's Pick!
The Railway Express Agency was the FedEx of its day, handling packages and LCL freight nationwide in an era when trains were the way people shipped things. As highways got better and passenger trains declined, more of this traffic went over the road, til in 1975 REA called it quits. Here one of their fleet of cars, lettered for the Burlington, sits at the BN yard in West Burlington, now an MOW car. Seen from Amtrak 6.
