Former B&O right of way, looking west  Contributor's Pick!
Looking west at the former B&O, originally Ohio River Railroad, right of way. This line originally ran from Wheeling, WV along the Ohio River, entering Huntington via the tracks that used to run through here. The end of the line was in Kenova, WV, about 12 miles from here. The building at the right used to be handle various forms of corrugated paper and cardboard, and the loading dock used to be open. I don't know when these rails were taken up but they were in place through the early 1970's, at least. The rest of the rails, from about a half mile west of here to the end of track in Kenova, were removed about 1965 except for one or two sidings in Kenova, called "the B&O" by local freight crews.
