BN Shop Switcher
Burlington Northern Shop Switcher at West Burlington, Iowa on October 22, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This shows the other side of the shop switcher, I'm not sure if this was the Engineer's side or the Conductor's side. It was powered by an extension cord (not seen in this view) which could be plugged at various locations around the shop.

Trent Gaona General Interesting unit. Anybody know where the truck came from? 12/18/2015 11:50:45 PM
Jonathan (SleepTrain456) General I don't know where the truck comes from, but it looks like, as the other picture of it on this site says, a 6-axle truck that had it's middle axle removed. In other words, it is probably from an SD7 or SD24, as BN was retiring those at the time. Also, since this shop switcher was photographed on October 22, 1983, it is certainly from a locomotive that was retired before then. I hope this narrows down the list! 6/25/2021 3:39:04 PM

Chuck Zeiler General The unit was plugged into outlets distributed around the shop floor. A coiled extension cord is visible in the other shot. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2153127 Chuck 9/9/2021 11:17:16 AM
