| The daily "up" Melbourne to Sydney XPT makes a turn on the Bethungra Spiral. (what US railfans call a Loop) It's about to enter one of two tunnels at the location. The Spiral was built in WWII to reduce grades for "UP" (Sydney-bound) trains from 2.5% to 1.5%. |
