Raritan River power  Contributor's Pick!       
In 1980, Conrail absorbed one of Jerseys more obscure operations, the Raritan River RR, which had a base of operations in South Amboy. I never saw them while they were independent, but did finally catch their SW, still in its original colors, but with a CR number, while watching commuter trains one afternoon.

Steve Coraggio General CR 8660 was former RRRR #3 built 9/1954 purchased 10/1954 ,Const # 19924 to CR on April 1980,source Rails Up The Raritan by the late Fred Diebert. This old bridge is gone too, I remember that too.!!! 5/18/2018 9:57:31 PM
