BOSTON & MAINE P-4a 3713 "THE CONSTITUTION"
I rode the last B&M steam run from Boston to Portland on April 22, 1956 - this is a water stop. Note the sanding as 3713 backs to the water standpipe. Built by Lima in 1934, 3713 was one of the last and heaviest Pacifics built. Now being restored at Steamtown.

Bob Shoring General I would have loved to have seen this live. I was nearly 7 when steam ended on the Stoneham branch in 1954. At the time I thought there was no more steam on the B&M after that. Wish I had known! 1/7/2013 5:38:34 PM
Tony Fernandez General This locomotive used to sit at the east end of the "Science Museum" front lot in Boston. I last saw it on display in 1973; now it's being restored at STEAMTOWN, Scranton, PA. Very "classy" locomotive. 10/11/2013 12:24:45 PM
