All Ahead One Third Editors Pick! Contributor's Pick!
The Navy branch out of NAS Whiting Field ran about eight miles of track to the L&N connection at Milton FL. Here their 65 ton GE approaches the junction with two empty fuel cars. As the tracks show, the line wasn't operating very often at this point. It was abandoned in the early '80s and eventually became a rail-trail.

John Danielson General That is a very interesting grade crossing... Great shot! 7/2/2012 12:04:47 AM
Chris S General Almost reminds me of a 'cattle crossing'; great catch, wonderful photo 7/3/2012 10:48:04 PM
Kris Rumbut General I have seen this style of crossing within the ArcelorMittal steel mill in Indiana. They do this to spread out the weight of their heavy plant trucks across. Keeps from destroying the two main rails. 7/4/2012 6:37:34 AM
Jonathan Hinely General Great shot, and catch. And that crossing takes the prize for the coolest crossing in the world 7/30/2012 1:45:57 AM
