Cal Zephyr dome comes the the A&M  Contributor's Pick!
This former Cal Zephyrdome was sitting south of the station with the two old coaches. Thanks Jerry La Boda for the history. Hopefully we'll see this on an excursion some time this year. Amtrak number was 800175.

Jerry LaBoda General This is ex-Western Pacific 812 "Silver Feather." It became AutoTrain 461, then sold into private ownership between 1981 and 1990, then serving on the Texas Southern dinner train, then Transco (owner of the TS) before going to the Washinton Central as WCRC 151 in 1995. Sold to the British Columbia Rwy. as their 151 "Moonglow." Sold to Ontario Northland (ONT 901) in 2004 and sold in 2010. The paint scheme is the heavily weathered Pacific Starlight Dinner Train paint scheme... the car was never owned by Amtrak, just carries the 800-number because it is certified for use on Amtrak trains, though this may no longer be the case. Nice shot... thanks for sharing it!!! 1/31/2012 7:46:55 PM
