SOUTHERN PACIFIC'S PROVO LOCAL.  Contributor's Pick!
Southern Pacific's GP60's were originally bought for hotshot and container service on the Sunset Route However,They were used in other areas of service on the SP System when needed. Such was the case on January 14,1996 when 9745 was on the point of the Provo Local with two Rio Grande GP40's (one being a former Conrail GP40),Is just minutes from delivering it's cut of cars to the former Rio Grande Yard at Provo. After delivering it's cut of cars to Provo,9745 will then return back to Salt Lake City servicing Geneva Steel on the way.
