| ALBUQUERQUE NM Sept 11 1980 -- I shot Santa Fe RSD15 9820 in the roundhouse at Albuquerque where it was stored for preservation. Alco built the unit as ATSF 820 on June 26 1959. It burned at Needles Ca in July 1969 and was rebuilt, repainted and renumbered to 9820 by Oct 10 1969. It was retired to perserved storage Aug 31 1972 and sent to the California State Railroad Museum, with other preserved locomotives, in Sacramento in March 1986. (Roster information from atsfrr.net) As of June 2010 it was in the former SP erecting shop at CSRM and was not on display.. |
