UP 1204 (SW10)         
PORTLAND OR August 20 1981 -- Union Pacific SW10 1204 awaits its next assignment at Albina Yard with the Fremont Bridge in the background. This unit was rebuilt at the UP’s shops in Omaha NB from SW9 UP 1853 on April 17 1980. It was retired on July 14 1998 and went “to David J. Joseph Co. (DJPX) 1204, leased to Fort Wort & Western Railroad (FWWR) for four months during 1999, to Chaparral Steel at Petersburg, Va., later in 1999 as number L409-2.” For an explanation of the SW10 program see the excellent article at http://utahrails.net/articles/up-sw10s.php.
