| Boone & Scenic Valley car 85 was originally Southern Pacific 10-roomette/-6-double-bedroom sleeper 9044. It was one of 25 plan 4140C cars (SP 9030-9052 and NP 364-365) built under Pullman-Standard Lot No. 6874 in 1950 for CASCADE, OVERLAND, CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO, GOLDEN STATE and LARK service. The 9044 was built for the CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO; it was one of five cars (9041-9045) rebuilt with a blunt end in 1953 and was retired in 1968. (approximate month) |
