CSS&SB Pullman 206
Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad Pullman built trailer 206 at the Randolph Street Station, Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 206 was built in 1927 by the Pullman Car and Manufacturing Company, one of ten ordered by the Insull management to handle increased passenger traffic. Twenty new cars were ordered in 1927 to suppliment the 25 cars delivered in 1926; ten were motor coaches and ten were control trailers, all were 61 foot in length. The seats were changed from walkover seating (on the original 25 cars) to rotating bucket seats , and the smoking section was changed to a Pullman-style smoking compartment. An aisle passing around the compartment made it unnecessary for passengers entering or leaving the car to pass through the smoking compartment. In 1948 number 206 was lengthened to 78 feet by splicing a 17 foot section in the middle.
