| Speeders line up at9Nantahala, NC (milepost T-86.1) for a briefing led by NARCOA sponsor Tom Falicon. This location marks the foot of the torturous climb up the Red Marble grade to the summit at Topton, NC. This is the siding that GSMRR runs their engines around the train for the relurn trip to Bryson City and Dillsboro. GSMRR seldom operates west of this point to the end of the line at Andrews (milepost T-99.0). Only about 2 or 3 passenger trips per year and occassional carloads of corn for a feed mill in Andrews traverse the rails west of Nantahala. |
