First 219 Editors Pick!
Southern Railway's southbound piggyback train No. 219 was displaying green classification lights as it headed out off Slidell. Geeps 2778 and 2783, which were being used in yard and transfer service at New Orleans, had come north on piggyback train No. 222 and just swapped cars with three SD's. The train had 43 cars and caboose X704. Both of the geeps still had their original 1700-gallon fuel tanks. They would eventually get 3,000-gallon tanks from retired SD35's.
