Wreck on the PRR Low Grade Secondary west of New Bethlehem, PA  Contributor's Pick!
Some hoppers overturned and tumbled down the bank into Redbank Creek. According to Dad, who was track supervisor at the time, this one was caused by track spreading. I believe I'm reading roster number 8723 in the locomotive in the lower right corner. If so, that makes it a Fairbanks-Morse Model H12-44. I'd appreciate any feedback from people more knowledgeable than I as to whether it looks like an F-M locomotive.

Alan Fricker General Yes Bob, this an FM switcher. The opposed piston engine design caused FMs to have higher hoods than other locomotives. 1/6/2010 9:05:19 PM
