gordon vincent General As Joint Line engineer,1978-1981,I operated this unit twice Denver/Pueblo.Former GN SD-45's were basic engines.Only weighed 368,000 lbs!Too lite for 3,600 hp.Average weight 390,00 lbs,SP's 410,000 lbs.We engineers were paid by the combined weight of the loco consist.The GN's were flat land screamers,but were not mountain goats!!!Slip,slip,slip up grade out of Denver,then wheel slide down grade!from Palmer Lake. 1/14/2011 2:46:05 PM
