When You Can't See the Railroad for the Trees  Contributor's Pick!
This is the southern leg of the BNSF wye at Mark, MO. (actually the north switch is Mark, the east is Falk, the west is North River, but we'll call it Mark here) Located about five miles south of the yard at West Quincy, it connects the Hannibal Sub ("the K-Line") with the Brookfield Sub. This view shows as it curves to the west; the signal protecting this point is situated behind the photographer and still stands while dutifully illuminated in red although there seems to be no chance of traffic headed for Hannibal off this line anytime soon. For an earlier picture of this same piece of trackage on RRPA.NET, Gary Dyehouse shot it in 2002 when the trees were considerably less dense.
