Approaching "Bangor East"
The "Home signal" is green relaying what is known as a clear block"--- the truth of it being that the next two blocks are clear, but we are NOT going there at this time!!! If the "Distant signal" for Bangor East had been%a "double yellow" the train crew would have been proceeding much slower knowing that they were lined into the siding!!! One day I saw Amtk7 take siding for a BNSF ccal loads which held the main!!! I did NOT understand why the dispatcher made that kind of a move, but perhaps there was a really good reason for doing so!!! I wonder just what the conductor's delay report had to say--- I ˜nn't think that it was anything like "the seeing eye dog had to go"!!!

Loren Johnson General I could understand that if the AMTRAK train got there first, he may as well go into the siding, so that the coal train could run past without having to slow down going through the switches into and out of the siding. May have been faster to do it that way. 1/29/2010 7:32:34 PM
