42 in the hole for 51
Local #42 is in the siding at Carroll for Pig Train #51. Carroll is not actually a town, just the name of a siding in the middle of no where between Winona and Vaiden. #42 was a local that ran from Canton, MS to Jackson, TN. #51 was a Chicago to New Orleans piggyback. #51 was running in 2 sections this day and this is the 1st section. This job was allocated to a GM&O crew from the former GM&O Tennessee Division. The 2nd section had a Grenada/Water Valley District Crew. The siding at Carroll was 2,423 ft. long. Photo by Fred Goff.
