Wilfred Roberge General locomotive is a fire survivor. Local C+O crew saw the Ludington + Northern's engine house on fire so they rescued the SW8 by breaking in with their locomotive while shed was on fire and dragging 16 out. this happened in the early 70's. 4/20/2015 3:22:05 PM
Wilfred Roberge General Ludington & Northern # 16 is a fire survivor. In the early to mid 1970's the RR's engine shed burned to the ground and the engine too would have been destroyed had it not been for the actions of a brave C+O yard crew. The engine shed was located adjacent to the C+O interchange/yard and they saw the engine shed on fire and rather than wait for the fire department they used their locomotive to rescue the # 16. They rammed the doors of the shed to break them down, hooked up the 16 and dragged it free of the fire. 4/20/2015 3:30:26 PM
