Still Waiting For Trains in Auxvasse  Contributor's Pick!
Although the Ozark Valley RR took control of the KCS' Mexico to Fulton MO branch about a year ago; trains have yet to run south of the Mexico industrial park. This is Auxvasse, about 11 miles south of Mexico on the 24 mile branch. This line was opened in 1872 by the Chicago & Alton from Mexico to a point across from Jefferson City called Cedar City. It's subsequently been owned by at least seven other railroads. The portion south of Fulton was abandoned in 1933. The elevator itself was removed in 2010-11.
