BNSF 1460 - SWBLW "The Beep"  Contributor's Pick!
BEEP BEEP! The one of a kind rebuild of a Baldwin Locomotive Works VO-1000 switcher with a 16 cylinder EMD 567 Prime Mover and a GP7 hood rests at the shops after a tiresome career switching ATSF and BNSF yards, industries, and shops, the Beep's career is over. The unit received the nickname since it is basically a "Baldwin Geep". As couple shop employees walked past, one said to Dane and I, "Hail to the Beep, she's goin' down!" It was later donated and moved to the Western American Railroad Museum in Barstow, CA. Read more about the Beep here: http://atsf.railfan.net/beep/ .

Shelley H. General Actually this engine should be on its way now to California about 1 hour from me in Barstow and will be part of the outside museum they have there including a FP45 & and a few other engines. I'm excited to see it..but at the same time sad that it will rot over time out in elements. Nice shot of it in its day of working! 5/18/2009 8:08:07 PM
