CB&Q 4-8-4 Class O-5-B 5614
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-8-4 Class O-5-B 5614 at Lincoln, Nebraska on an unknown day in September 1956, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Assembled during July 1937 by the CB&Q's at the West Burlington Shops, the boiler was supplied by Baldwin. It was retired and donated to the City of Saint Joseph, Missouri during May 1962. I've classed this locomotive as an O-5-B. It was built as a coal-burning class O-5-A, but at some point was converted to burn oil, so I assume it was re-classed.

R. Saltzman General The track just to the right of the Burlington main was the CNW's branch into Lincoln, and the diamond in the background was where MP's connection to the UP line crossed. This used to be a center of railroad activity downtown, right near the UNL football stadium. 3/5/2018 1:13:53 PM
