BNSF 4543  Contributor's Pick!
BNSF stack trains swap crews on the 190th Street Bridge, aka the eastern limit of Alcoa Yard. The Hobart based crew has brought 4965 to Torrance, whlie the Watson based crew has brought 4543 up. This crew swap was a somewhat rare move, usually made because one of the crews (probably Hobart) was at risk of dying on the law. Dash 9 4543 was part of BNSF's 1999 order for 299 more of the ubiquitous units, making it only about six months old in this shot.

Ted Marshall General Another great catch of yours. Those were the days, huh Charles? Before all east-west intermodal traffic was moved to the 'trench'. 6/21/2008 1:47:07 PM
