| With one exception, all of the Kansas City Southern's 20 GP30's were repainted from their original red color into the white scheme when they reached their 15th birthdays in 1977-78 and their trusts were paid off. Here is recently-repainted 4103 in the joint KCS-SLSF yard in Hope, Arkansas, just south of the crossing with the Missouri Pacific's main line between Little Rock and Texarkana. This GP30-F7B-GP30 set of power had arrived from Shreveport on train No. 24, and would return south on No. 23. The 4103 was retired in 1990 and sold to the Southeast Kansas Railroad two years later. Today the KCS no longer serves Hope, and this yard belongs to the Kiamichi Railroad |
