GWT ARGONAUT
Title:  GWT ARGONAUT
Description:  Built by Pullman in January 1914 in Lot #4211 to Plan #2502A as private car PHILADELPHIA, 1 of 3 such cars (the other 2 were the BOSTON and the WASHINGTON) built in that Lot and outshopped in January 1914. The PHILADELPHIA was 1 of 2 Pullman business cars sold to the WP in April 1942: the other car was the DAVY CROCKETT, which became WP #106. The #105 was retired and sold in May or June 1963 to Dick Reynolds, who had the car named CARIBOO. After an initial run on SP's mail train THE KLAMATH (#20 EB/#19 WB) from Oakland to Dunsmuir and back June 22nd-23rd for the McCLOUD RIVER RATTLER photo freight, the CARIBOO entered California-to-Mexico charter service; these were the predecessor trips to Great Western Tours. The car was later renamed ARGONAUT, and after the dissolution of GWT, the car saw use on the Napa Valley Wine Train. Meanwhile, the #106 was later retired and sold to Marty Lummis, and is now in the collection of the WP RR Museum. Scanned with an Epson V550 from a Kodachrome original 35mm slide.
