Starting in 1989, the Grand Trunk Western began a major rebuild project. This project resulted in 36 GP9r's. The only visible difference between the GP9 and the GP9r is these units all have a low front hood. Specs - EMD, 3/1957, nee-CV 4552, 1750 hp produced, 65 mph max speed, engine weight of 248,000 lb, tractive effort of 47,000 lb. An unknown photographer took the photo. |
