CRIP TA #604 rare - Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific (Rock Island)
Title:  CRIP TA #604 rare - Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific (Rock Island)
Description:  Poor quality photo of the unique 1937 EMC built TA model for the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific as it sits is the train shed area of the Kansas City Union Station, MO. Six streamlined TA models were built solely for the Rock Island. The locomotives were powered by a 1200 hp Winton 201-A V16 engine. The loco was constructed as a crbody truss instead of the separate chassis to save weight and headed up a 3 or 4 car semi-articulated trainset built by the Budd Co. The 6 TA locomotives were retired between 1957-58 and all were scrapped. The date is approximate and no photographer's name was listed for the photo.
