Title:  DLW 4-8-2 #2228 - Delaware, Lackawanna & Western
Description:  Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1927, this "Mountain type" locomotive exudes power even as it sits quietly in an unknown yard, possibly DLW Scranton yard. Illinois Central 4-8-2 #2410
Title:  Illinois Central 4-8-2 #2410
Description:  This 1923 Alco "Mountain" type locomotive was listed by the IC as the 2400 class following the guidelines of naming the class after the first number in the series. These units gave the IC much needed speed and increased pulling power for longer, heavier trains. The Paducah shops then built 76 more Mountain type locos between 1937-43 patterned after these first ones. This is a May, 1970 reprint from C.W. Burns original negative taken at 27th Street in Chicago. .
