Frisco 1522 4-8-2, Southern 6100 FT, CB&Q 9908, C&IM 551 2-8-2
Title:  Frisco 1522 4-8-2, Southern 6100 FT, CB&Q 9908, C&IM 551 2-8-2
Description:  St Louis & San Francisco Railway (Frisco) 1522, 4-8-2, Southern 6100 FT Diesel, Chicago Burlington & Quincy 9908 Diesel, and Chicago & Illinois Midland 551 2-8-2 at the National Museum of Transportation at St. Louis, MO. The Southern FT would be repainted to its demonstrator colors for its 50th anniversary celebration at the EMD Lagrange plant (McCook, IL). I think there is a sort of optical illusion created with my son standing on a slope considerably closer than the engines.

SOU FTA 6103
Title:  SOU FTA 6103
Description:  Southern Railway 6103 led an A-B-A set of FT units and a caboose eastbound (timetable north) at the Elysian Fields Avenue grade crossing on the railroad’s New Orleans Terminal Co. subsidiary. The engines and cab were on their way from the roundhouse on North Scott Street, near BERNADOTTE YARD, to pick up a train at PRESS STREET YARD. Up until 1935 the NO&NE crossed the Pontchartrain Railroad – a subsidiary of the Louisville & Nashville – at this location. The Southern built a diesel shop at PRESS STREET YARD about two years after this photo was taken, ending moves like this; and the grade crossing here was replaced by an overpass at about the same time. (approximate month and day)

NO&NE Extra South
Title:  NO&NE Extra South
Description:  Southern Railway Extra 6802 South – a train of tank cars behind an A-B-A set of FT units – was crossing the Louisville & Nashville at N.E. TOWER about one mile away from its destination at the railroad's PRESS STREET YARD in New Orleans. This view was looking north along the L&N main line and the bridge in the foreground crossed the Peoples Avenue drainage canal. The tower would soon be replaced with a new brick structure, which would remain in operation until September 1990. (approximate day of photo)
