Good looking power
Title:  Good looking power
Description:  Once the NYSW decided to paint their power, they put together some good looking consists. This SLN 5 has just pulled up to QD, and now that the rear of the train has cleared BD, it will back its 50 platforms and 4 freight into the D&H yard to change power and crews and roll for Buffalo. The power, an SD 45/F 45/SD 45 set, looks good in yellowjacket paint.

Title:  Coming over
Description:  Power from inbound trains would often be pulled off BUME and serviced, or swapped out at Binghamton, and new power brought over from the yard. The train itself would be left on the Buffalo Runner. A set of NYSW power is rolling through BD as it makes its way to the train at Bevier St.

Title:  Took a dump truck
Description:  NYSW 4006 was leading an excursion during the recent NRHS convention in Jersey when it hit a dump truck at a crossing on the ex L&HR. It made for a memorable trip, though for the wrong reasons. They moved the unit to Binghamton, and eventually back to GE for repairs. Here it is sitting outside the Binghamton shop.

Showing the flag
Title:  Showing the flag
Description:  NYSW tried whenever possible to run its own power in the lead. Sometimes that meant one of the F 45s, which was always a treat. Todays MEBU has 3636 leading at BX, about to cross CR at BD. The signal governed the long out of service crossing of the EL and D&H here on a diamond. Now it's a pair of crossovers.

DLW side
Title:  DLW side
Description:  BUME, looking like NYSW has a pool with BN, rolls west on track 3, the former DLW westbound main, passing the DLW station on the right, and the Erie freight house on the left. The station is still standing, serving multiple purposes for new owners. The freight house was torn down several years later, and replaced with a small building used by local crews. Track 3 was sometimes used if there was traffic on the Erie main between BD and West BD. Also in this view, we see the station power plant, the low brick building with the concrete stack; and the Marconi tower, an early effort at radio communications. The Lackawanna got into radio early, due to the weather related issues with lineside wires that came with the heavy winters in the region.
