Union Pacific Railroad GP40 859 at Saint Louis, Missouri on February 17 1991, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. According to utahrails.net, number 859 was built in May 1966 as SAL GP40 600 (c/n 31767), later became SCL 1515, then SBD 6672, then CSX 6672, then VMV 6672. The 859 was on long term lease from Helm Financial beginning in January 1989, returned to Helm for reconditioning and back to the UP as 859. It was returned to Helm once again (unknown date), rebuilt to a GP38-2 and leased to UP as UP 2536 on September 9, 1998. |
