Conrail SD45 6228 and SD40-2 6424 on a transfer run to the BN at about 22nd Street in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The diamond with the ICG ( known in the past as Alton Junction, also the entrance to Dearborn Street Station ) had just been replaced, there was a lot of welding and tamping work to do next. Note the backward AMTRAK on the left, the street entrance to Amtrak's former coach yard which had previously been AT&SF's coach yard. |
