Rounding the bend
Title:  Rounding the bend
Description:  An eastbound Oyster Bay train comes around the curve at Nassau, the tower to the right of the last car, having left the Main Line after making its Mineola stop. It will make all stops to Oyster Bay, save for Mill Neck. An MP 15 and two cars was not uncommon for a train that will work most of the off peak mid day hours at that time. View is from a westbound trains FA power pack.

Oyster Bay train east
Title:  Oyster Bay train east
Description:  A train bound for Oyster Bay rolls east through Queens Village. Oyster Bay trains tended to be short, since some of their stations were convenient to others on the Port Washington Branch, or to Mineola with a short drive, so patronage was lighter than other branches.

Light power to Morris Park
Title:  Light power to Morris Park
Description:  No, this is not the power for a freight!! The Montauk Branch was often used to run non revenue moves between Long Island City and Jamaica, such as this one, an MP 15 taking an FA to Morris Park for servicing.

Spraying for contact
Title:  Spraying for contact
Description:  The LIRR had a couple of cars specially equipped with tanks of alcohol and spraying equipment to shoot alcohol on the third rail. This reduced the likelihood of ice forming on the third rail, preventing contact, thus making it possible for trains to continue running in snowy weather. Today one of the cars is sandwiched between a pair of MP 15s westbound at New Hyde Park Rd. This must have been a preventive move, as the day is clear.
