PRR at Seabrook, #1 of 3, c. 1953 |
Description: |
Here is the first of three successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken in Seabrook, Maryland, c. 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4816, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during May of 1935 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. In this context, it's heading a Baltimore-bound passenger train that's slowing to a stop in order to collect mail and discharge/board passengers. At the left, the Postmaster waits patiently, mail bag in hand. |
