Description:  Here is the second of three original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Visible in the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6835, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in March of 1957. To the left of it is engine #9889, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1915 and retired in October of 1958; note that its cylinder covers have been removed in preparation for movement to the Recycling Center. Partially visible at the far right is the East Altoona Roundhouse.

Description:  Here is the second of four original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is the "coast-to-coast" tender assigned to Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6432, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, they've just exited the East Altoona Roundhouse but have stopped short of the Bridge.

Description:  Here is the first of three original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Parked in the foreground (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6835, #9889, #267, and the tender of another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. #6835 is an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in March of 1957. #9889 is an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1915 and retired in October of 1958. And #267 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata in December of 1917 and retired in June of 1957. Over in the Westbound Classification Yard, an unidentified Class I-1S (2-10-0) scurries about. To the left of its tender, the "Scooter" operator transports Yard Brakemen back to the top of the westbound hump at HOMER Tower (not shown at right).

Description:  MDiv. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Raymond J. Muller that was taken in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, in October of 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6835 and another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. Both are Class "M" (4-8-2) "Mountains." #6835 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in March of 1957 after 31 years of faithful service. They're passing through the Duncannon Passenger Station with an iron-ore train bound for the steel mills of Western Pennsylvania. ("Stoneborobranch"; #24 of 56)
