NOPSI 809
Title:  NOPSI 809
Description:  New Orleans Public Service streetcar 809 was operating on the TULANE BELT on South Carrollton Avenue at the New Basin Canal drawbridge. Streetcars stopped using this bridge on 9 January 1951, when the BELT LINES were discontinued; and the 809 was scrapped in April 1953. On the far right was PELICAN STADIUM, home of the New Orleans Pelicans minor league baseball team from 1915 until the end of the 1957 season. The stadium was torn down in October 1957 and the land used for the construction of a large motel. The team played at CITY PARK STADIUM for two more years and then the franchise was sold to Little Rock. (approximate date of photo)
